« I've worked at most of the major studios (Disney, Dreamwork, Sony Imageworks, R&H) and they are all Linux.. workstations, servers, everything. We use Maya, Renderman, Katana, Arnold.. stuff like that.
I asked once why everyone was Linux (even Pixar is 100% Linux btw even though they were owned by Apple) and they said it has something to do with the fact that we are rendering frames.. giant image frames for a feature film and that moving those frames is much easier in Linux.
I've been doing this since the 90's and it's always been Linux. I worked on a tv show (Jimmy Neutron) and we did use Windows there.. but even they switched to Linux in the early 2000s. »
