« An art project inspired by work being done with the Large Hadron Collider at the Centre For Nuclear Research (Cern) has gone on display.
Ryoji Ikeda spent time as a resident artist at Cern - the world's largest particle physics research institute.
Made up of 40 computers synchronised with projectors and loudspeakers, Ryoji Ikeda's Supersymmetry, creates a powerful and immersive experience. »

Description de la vidéo : « Film director Romain Demongeot and electronic music artists De Andria & Ghisal have given their vision of what Love may become after the end of the world. »

Description de la vidéo : « Japanese artist and composer Ryoji Ikeda’s new work translates the digital data that surrounds us in everyday life into flickering barcodes. We enter a gigantic landscape that consists of alternating black and white structures. The twitching currents flow by us at astonishing speed, contract and take on new forms. test pattern [100m version]—conceived especially for Duisburg’s Kraftzentrale—moves in the field of tension between technological feasibility and human perception. The serial perfection of this artificially created environment presents an extreme contrast to each human motion. On a 100-meter-long projection, we are simultaneously viewer and part of the image. Combined with the rhythmic power of the soundtrack, the result is a poetic space that invites us to linger—an experience that involves all the senses.
With surgical precision, Ryoji Ikeda transforms physical phenomena and mathematical concepts into complex montages of sound and light. Working with installations, live performance, and publications, he is one of the most innovative composers and visual artists in the field of electronics. His works are primarily characterized by an equal confidence in the use of visual and acoustic media. »

« Using pure data as a source for sound and visuals, datamatics combines abstract and mimetic presentations of matter, time and space in a powerful and breathtakingly accomplished work. » — ryojiikeda.com

Extrait : "Recently I bought a turntable to use it for an experiment, but that didn't turn out as I was expecting.
Then, I noticed the equally spaced ridges on the plate and got an idea for something else.
For about an hour I recorded short musical phrases by rubbing leaves against the turntable (the type of leaf, angle, pressure and fold determined the sound), then I combined the different takes together. Every element comes from those recordings, including the bass, kick and snare sounds (shaped with EQ, compression and resonators)."
