« here is a fun thing you can do : if someone doesn't go out much because they're depressed, keep inviting them to things anyway
even if you know they're very likely to bail it's important to make them feel wanted still so they don't isolate themselves even more

in my own experience there's nothing worse than seeing friends invite you less and less. it's disheartening and only brings on more sadness
and when they suggest they want to go out, don't say "but you hate going out". if the person suggested it, they're trying!!
like I understand that sometimes people mean well but understand that I personally don't hate going out per se ; I'm mentally ill
beyond being sad, my illness drains my energy and my desire to do things. that's why I don't want to go out.
